Concept Design
Tods concept design team supports the 3 fundamental business divisions of Defence, Aerospace and Mass Transit.
From customer requirements, concept solutions are examined taking into consideration the practical, geometrical structural loading, and any other requirements. Preliminary studies are undertaken to ensure that the concept will meet all customer requirements.
Digital Mock Ups
Using Catia V4 and Solidworks, digital mock-ups of components and assemblies are produced for customer approval.
Producing rendered 3D images, initial design concepts can be viewed and interrogated by customers to minimise expensive design iterative loops.
Approved digital mock-ups can be used to facilitate the early release of information to tool and pattern makers, preliminary bills of materials can be created highlighting long lead items. This can considerably shorten the time frame from concept to production, providing customers with technically superior solutions in reduced scales.
Detailed Design
Using the approved digital mock-up as the master our dedicated team of highly skilled Designers produce the assembly and detail drawings required for production, this includes drawings for tooling, production aids and digital data for manufacture such as NC information.
Integrated Systems Design
Tods have extensive experience in engineering modular constructions. Typically these comprise separate systems such as structures, electrical, plumbing etc. each system often consisting of hundreds of components. The definition of interfaces between different systems and the overall modular envelope, together with maintaining tight tolerances, is crucial to the success in fulfilling the module requirements.
