Design Engineer

Department: Engineering

Reporting to: Engineering Director

Skills & Qualifications

Have a relevant engineering qualification or have equivalent in relevant experience. Have an understanding of computer aided design (CAD) and design office procedures. Have some knowledge of composite materials. Have broad industry based knowledge. Must be a good communicator and be able to write reports.

Technical Responsibilities

Undertake design tasks using computer aided design (CAD) tools as defined by the Engineering Director, Principal or Senior engineering Staff. In conjunction with design team members provide design solutions that satisfy design to cost and design for manufacture best practice. Develop those designs into production ready product that meets the requirement specification.

Functional Responsibilities

Ensuring all design activity is carried out to Company procedures or overriding customer requirements. Ensure project conformity to requirements. Ensure tasks are complete as directed to schedule and within defined budgets.

Other task in support of company strategy as directed by the Engineering Director.

Location

Primary location will be Blacknell Lane, Crewkerne. Temporary secondment may be required at other W & J Tod (Holdings) Ltd group sites. Visiting customer’s premises both in the UK and abroad as required.
