Tods win Aerospace orders for innovative design

TODS WIN AEROSPACE ORDERS FOR INNOVATIVE DESIGN

A ground breaking innovation in the use of carbon fibre skins in the construction of aircraft flooring plinths, has secured Crewkerne-based TODS AEROSPACE LIMITED a £multi-million order from the United States.

The contracts placed by B/E Aerospace Inc, the world’s leading manufacturer of cabin interior products for commercial and business jet aircraft, are for almost 3,000 structural flooring plinths for premium class seating, to be used aboard a variety of aircraft including Airbus A330, and Boeing 747,767, 777 – for two major international airlines.

The carbon fibre reinforced skins provide for significant added strength and stiffness to the composite sandwich flooring plinths, which allow for compliance to the most stringent aircraft safety requirements. The first off items have been certified for flight by the FAA and have passed all FST requirements, and production to meet the new aircraft delivery schedules is now underway.
