COMPOSITE REPRESENTATION FROM TODS GROUP – UK
Composite materials engineers Tods will be represented by their naval structures division (Tods Defence) and their aerospace products counterparts (Tods Aerospace) who specialise in the design and development of composite materials for use in the military aerospace environment.
In the marine sector Tods Defence are synonymous with the design and manufacture of Sonar Bow Domes for both surface ships and submarines and are the preferred choice of the Royal Navy for more than 40 years. Currently Tods Defence are embedded partners for the design, build and installation of Bow Domes for the US Navy DDG 1000 Zummwalt Destroyers, Royal Navy Type 45 Destroyers, the Spanish Navy F100 Frigate programme, and for the UK Astute and Spanish S80 submarines. The Company is involved with other NATO, Australian and Indian naval contracts.
Tods Aerospace specialises in the design and manufacture of low weight Class A aircraft structures for rotorcraft and fixed wing aircraft, which include AW159 Wildcat, EH101 and Lynx up-grade programmes, using honeycomb cores and monolithic pre-pregs for cockpit doors, roofs and floors. Their pre eminence in thermoplastics is in great demand for commercial airlines floors and wing components and through other partnerships Tods are involved in the component product design in the European co-operation project for the Chinese-built H425 helicopter.
Tods have a long-established reputation in the development of new technologies for composite materials, utilising digital design and production techniques for rapid exchange of design concepts between the Company’s international manufacturing partners.
Key personnel from all three of Tods specialities will be represented at the Navy League Conference.
