READY TO TAKE ITS BOW WITH THE US NAVY

Working with US mission systems integrator Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems, the first of two Bow Sonar Domes for the lead ships in the DDG 1000 Zumwalt-Class destroyer programme has been delivered to the USA.

Seen is the Bow Dome being packed ready for shipment, at Tods Defence production site, at Portland, UK. for delivery to the Bath Iron Works ship building yard of General Dynamics.

The Bow Sonar Dome is a specialised underwater structural and acoustic enclosure which houses the ship’s warfare search and detection suite, and is the first British-designed composite Bow Sonar Dome to be utilised by the US Navy. The second unit will be shipped later in 2010.
