MASS TRANSIT FIRMLY ON THE RAILS AT PORTLAND - TODS.
Composite materials engineers Tods have transferred production of their mass transit products division, from Crewkerne, to dedicated facilities at their large structures site at Portland to support after service business operations. Tods produce a diverse range of products for the rail and bus industries, from servery bars on intercity trains to Todlam™ laminated fire retardant panelling for carriage and bus and coach interiors. The first production run at Portland has included a series of 6metre interior roof panels for new ‘air-side’ passenger mover vehicles destined for Heathrow airport. Steve Burton, Managing Director at the Portland site says: “ The move of the mass transit business to more spacious facilities is part of the Company’s restructuring, which has allowed it to free up valuable production space, for the expanding aerospace composite products business, at Crewkerne. “ Tods Portland facility has the skill set and capacity for Mass transit product support and will provide clarity and continuity for our customers” |
