Graduate Training for Composite Engineers introduced at Tods.Tods, the composite materials engineering group, comprising of Tods Aerospace and Tods Defence, have strengthened their training strategy to exploit the potential not only of their current engineers, but to attract graduate engineers to meet the challenges in the advancement in technologies and materials for composite structures. Building on an established professional development scheme under the auspices of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) the Company have now introduced their own Graduate training scheme for newly qualified engineers. The accredited IMechE scheme provides a mentored learning environment, utilised throughout Tods in recent years, which has enabled engineers to reach Chartered Engineer status allowing experienced staff to become Incorporated Engineers. The addition of the Graduate training scheme offers a fast track for graduate trainees through the business. The trainee will complete six modules over two years covering all aspects of the business. This is followed by a further year in post training. Peter Eckersall Engineering Director Tods Aerospace said “Finding the right people with the right skills has always been difficult especially for specialist SME’s. The IMechE and Graduate schemes are the backbone of Tods continual professional development strategy. They provide our business with engineering staff with expertise in their field, with the ability and drive to meet the demanding requirements of the aerospace market, and are able to develop and rise to the challenges of our continually changing business”. Tods are a recognised leader in using leading edge technologies and materials to design and build some of the world’s most advanced composite structures in both the aerospace and marine defence industries.
