An important ‘industry’ accolade, amongst the first of the SC21 Bronze Status Awards, has been granted to aerospace composites company Tods Aerospace Limited.

As a signatory to the SC21 21st century supply chain programme, Tods Aerospace has been audited for its business and manufacturing excellence, and has now been given entry level bronze accreditation. The Company will further develop the programme and target to achieve Gold Status by 2010.

To gain the SC21 Bronze Award, Tods Aerospace were sponsored by GKN Aerospace, as a lead customer.

The SC21 Bronze Award was presented to Crewkerne-based Tods Aerospace at Rolls Royce, Derby. On accepting the Award, Simon Finch Chief Executive of Tods Aerospace said:

“As a growing aerospace company the SC21 is a benchmark; it tells all our customers that Tods is consistently amongst the best performers in the industry. That’s good for customers, Tods and the aerospace industry.”

Richard Winterbottom, Operations Director said:

“Tods have always boasted its quality and performance management on the back of the high standards of BSI’s AS/EN9100, but SC21has made us raise our game and embed a new culture into the business."

Tods Aerospace has an annual turnover of £13million, employing 100 people. The Company recently won a £10million contract for carbon fibre heat shields and glass components for the Airbus A400M programme, and a number of design and build contracts for the AgustaWestland’s Future Lynx. Tods are also the sole supplier of non-structural composites to AgustaWestland.
