OHD Heatshields
Tods are currently manufacturing specialised engine overheat detector shields for the Airbus A400M. These are thermoformed in carbon fibre reinforced thermoplastic (PPS) materials.
The parts are precision moulded and CNC machined to fit into the confined spaces along the main wing spars.
Precision composite packers
With the advent of composite wings on commercial aircraft, accurate shims, seals and packers were required by Airbus to ensure that the aerodynamic lines of the wings were maintained during assembly.
Tods are manufacturing these items in pre-preg epoxy glass to extremely high specifications of porosity, moisture content and dimensional accuracy.
Full NDT (C-Scan, Tg etc.) is carried out to ensure integrity for operational conditions.
