For almost 30 years, Tods have been manufacturing hundreds of different components and sub-assemblies for military helicopters, from air conditioning ducting through composite armour protection plates to radomes for air/air and land/air.
A typical example is that each Lynx Helicopter manufactured by AgustaWestland comprises almost 700 components manufactured under high quality control by Tods.
Over this time, our Customer list has grown to include, amongst others, AgustaWestland, Airbus, BAE Systems, GKN Aerospace, Pall Aerospace & QinetiQ, and B/E Aerospace & Contour Premium Aircraft Seating in the civilian sector.
Traditional pre-preg materials in Kevlar, Glass & Carbon with epoxy and phenolic resin systems have now been supplemented with the latest glass and carbon reinforced thermoplastic solutions to provide optimum weight, FST and structural performance. Both nomex honeycomb and PEI thermoplastic tubular cores are used.
Design & Build contracts are now routinely completed for structural ‘Class A’ flight critical products.
Components are prepared in clean room conditions, autoclave, press, vacuum resin infusion or oven vacuum bag moulded, CNC machined, assembled and painted where appropriate and delivered to the Customer’s production lines.
